Opportunity Place Resource Association, a volunteer not-for-profit, community-based organization is seeking interested, committed individuals who may consider serving as board members.

The goal of Opportunity Place is to provide career and employment related services that support individuals to enhance their ability to participate in the labour market.

Emphasis is placed on providing employment and employability development activities that help individuals develop their skills and find sustainable jobs, or return to school, as well as to provide access to information on education and training that is essential for clients to acquire the knowledge and skills required to achieve their employment goals.

Potential board members require superior vision, leadership and linkage with the community, should share in the vision of Opportunity Place, have solid skill sets to benefit the organization and be prepared to work collaboratively with others on the organization’s benefits and future contributions to the community.

ALICE HOUSING

Role: Member - Board of Directors
Location: Dartmouth

Alice Housing provides long-term, safe, affordable housing and supportive counselling to women and children fleeing family violence. Our mandate is to empower women to move through a healing journey of recovery from family violence so that they and their children can live safely and creatively in the community.

We are currently seeking first-rate volunteers with a financial management background to serve on our feminist working Board of Directors, where you will have the opportunity to:

• Strengthen your leadership and governance skills

• Expand your social and professional networks

• Share your expertise

• Develop new skills, broaden and deepen existing skills

• Support and strengthen your community

If you have a passion for our cause, a willingness to commit time for board meetings, committee meetings, planning sessions, special events and you are a team player who works well in a group, we would welcome your application to join our board. The meetings occur the 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm at our offices in Dartmouth.
